Be a Pirate

I’m going to suggest something radical. I’m going to suggest that you be a pirate. Not for Halloween (put the eye patch and stuffed Parrot back), but in the pursuit of your goals. Now hear me out, pirates have a code of conduct. I’m going to take a select few and outline how it parallels to your dreams.

  1. Find Your Treasure. On the last post, I discussed how to discover your soul’s purpose. In this case, your treasure is your purpose. Some of us on this journey are seeking our “treasure” while some are growing or protecting what is ours. Wherever you are, go for it with all that you’ve got. Shoot your shot and don’t back down—even if you have to go to fisticuffs!
  1. Don’t Abandon Ship! Learning is failing and failing promotes growth. Now, I’m not suggesting that you writhe in a pool of mediocrity, but there will be times and often a lot at the beginning where you will stumble. That isn’t a sign for you to quit, or abandon ship, but instead dig deep. You don’t want to be the person that was “this close” to crossing the finish line, but you quit an inch before, right? Stay the course.
  1. Be Ready for Battle. The “battle” to the path of happiness can happen on many fronts, and oftentimes, it’s internal. “Am I good enough?” “I’m not as good as this person?” “It’s taking too long, what’s wrong with me?” Everyone has a masterpiece inside of them, and to get the treasure, there will be some fights. The fight for enough time, the fight with others who don’t support you and the fight with yourself. Let no one; not even yourself stand in your way.

Now ARRRRRR you ready to be a pirate? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA. Okay, that was cheesy. I’ll just end it here.
